Bakrie Highlights Yogyakarta’s Economic Potential Through AI, Technology

Yogyakarta, VIVA – The Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Anindya Bakrie, believes that Yogyakarta holds significant economic potential for the future.
According to him, this potential lies in maximizing the use of technology, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Bakrie pointed out that Yogyakarta is home to hundreds of universities and higher education institutions, which serve as a major asset for the region’s economic and technological breakthroughs.
"We also talked about the fact that there are hundreds of universities in Yogyakarta. This can be a game-changer in the field of technology, especially in artificial intelligence (AI)," Bakrie said on Sunday (Feb 9).

"All of this requires engineers and skilled workers, and the technology is already available. This could be an economic driving force not only for Yogyakarta but also for Indonesia," he added.
He further noted that Yogyakarta is also renowned for its creative economy, which will be a key factor in building a progressive economy in the future.
"I believe Yogyakarta is a special region, not only politically but also economically. That’s why KADIN Indonesia is here—to ensure that the economy in Yogyakarta continues to grow, making it a model for other provinces. Today, a thriving economy is one that is creative and constantly innovating," Bakrie concluded.
