Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, has donated 985 sacrificial cows for the celebration of Eid al-Adha 2025. The hundreds of cows will be distributed across Indonesia.
"On this year's Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri, the President is pleased to donate sacrificial cows through community assistance programs. This year, he donates a total of 985 cows," the Deputy Minister of State Secretariat, Juri Ardianto, said on Thursday (June 5).
Ardianto explained that the distribution will follow two schemes.
First, the cows will be handed over to regional governments and then forwarded to mosques. Second, President Prabowo will directly designate specific locations for the donation.

As known, President Prabowo's sacrificial cows will weigh between 800 kilograms and 1.3 tons. For regions where such large cows are unavailable, the government will provide two cows instead.
"Each of the 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities will receive one cow, except for 55 regencies/cities that will receive two cows each," Ardianto remarked.
He added, "There are 55 areas where cows weighing 800 to 1,300 kilograms are not available, so two cows will be provided instead for those 55 regencies/cities."
Of the total, 607 cows will be distributed through regional governments, while the remaining 378 cows will be allocated to community leaders, Islamic boarding schools, and social groups deemed in need by President Prabowo.
