411 People Have Vaccinated with Second Monkeypox Vaccine

Jakarta – Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Immunization Department of Health Service in DKI Jakarta, Ngabila Salama stated that a total of 411 people have received the second vaccination to against Monkeypox outbreak.
"411 people have vaccinated with the second monkeypox vaccination," Salama said in a statement on Tuesday. Â
Salama explained that the first and second dose injections were carried out over a period of four weeks and a month respectively.Â

The second dose of vacciantion has started on November 21, 2023.Â
Salama highlighted that the health department of DKI Jakarta has provided 1,000 doses of vaccine for 495 people, with recipients receiving two doses in two injections.Â
The Health Ministry is currently adding the stock of moneypox vaccines for those affected.Â
Moreover, DKI Jakarta has recorded 44 cases of Monkeypox in Jakarta as of December 1, 2023. So far, it's known that 26 patients have completed isolation and 16 additional patients are still in isolation.Â

"All patients had mild symptoms, all were infected through sexual contact, all men aged 25 to 50," Salama informed.Â
As additional information, Monkeypox is rare disease caused by infection with the Mpox virus. It is part of the same family of viruses as variola vitys, the virus that cause Smallpox. Mpox symptoms are similar to smallpox symptoms but milder, and Mpox is rarely dangerous.Â
