"The focus of our meeting with the Minister of Transportation was on how we can collectively manage the homecoming season, especially regarding holidays at the end of Eid al-Fitr," Bakrie said on Tuesday (March 11).

He explained that, based on discussions with Minister Purwaghandi, the peak of the Eid homecoming rush typically occurs three days before Eid al-Fitr (H-3).

However, Minister Purwagandhi has issued a recommendation for companies to allow their employees to work from anywhere (WFA), enabling them to travel earlier and avoid congestion on major routes.

"We know that traffic congestion always peaks on H-3. But with the extended holiday period, there’s now a recommendation to explore the option of working from anywhere. This could help smooth out the surge in homecoming travelers," Bakrie remarked.

As for the return traffic, Bakrie revealed that the Minister of Transportation expects the peak congestion to occur five days after Eid homecoming (H+5).

Given that approximately 146 million people will be on the move during this period, anticipatory measures are crucial.

"H+5 is the busiest, and we must remember that around 146 million people will be traveling—mostly from Jakarta, West Java, Banten, and Lampung, heading primarily to Central Java, East Java, and Yogyakarta," Bakrie stated.

He added, "There’s also a recommendation for early discounts on toll roads and public transportation, which could encourage people to travel sooner and help ease the traffic flow."
